Dope article written by:Daniel Shine about the Joe Budden V.S Raekwon situation
During my travels on twitter I recently read this article about this past weekend's proceedings at the Rock The Bells concert in San Bernadino. Of course by now we all know one of Raekwon's goons punched Joe Budden in the eye. Well heres a great article about said situation.
"I am writing this in a remote location far away from the tough, "street guys" the Hip-Hop industry has to offer for fear of getting punched by "the fat guy".
This past weekend Joe Budden received a black eye (Joe says he ain't got a scratch on him) and Raekwon from Wu-Tang allowed his legendary status to depreciate. How you're a legend because of one solo classic is beyond me by the way. And yes I have the purple tape, I grew up to Wu-Tang but this Wu/Joe Budden beef is less than subpar, it's the toilet paper wrapped GI-Joe in the toilet that the Roto Rooter man has to snake out. Yes it's a problem but when you find out what was stopping up your toilet your mad at the kids in the house, because this cornball beef is child's play.
Both sides are to blame; Joe Budden because he has a big mouth, he knows he has a big mouth and the thing just keeps running. Raekwon for not being the proper OG and just saying to heck with Budden, I'm trying to get this paper, let me become relevant again on my own, not because of some internet rap beef.
Yes I said it, Raekwon is not relevant, now Ghostface is relevant but Rae ain't been relevant in years. He's actually on the verge of ruining his legacy by naming his forthcoming album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, if it fairs like some of his post OB4CL projects than we're in for a mighty upset. But right now Raekwon is on the tip of everyone's tongue not because his music is superior, but because he got Joe Budden punched in the face. (Wether it was supposed to happen or not is not the point, it happened so Rae is responsible).
The bigger issue I see is how rappers are always complaining that Hip-Hop is a black art form and the blood sucking white executives have drained the culture. Well I've never seen Lyor Cohen commit an assault "on film" while arguing over a rap beef of who said what, at which tour date, ON THE INTERNET.
This was one of those wake up moments, well maybe people should have been awake hours ago but it's official now, Dap from School Daze has to come out and ring the bell and folks have to WAKE UP.
1. What message are we sending to our youth when we are settling our problems with our fists at this stage in the game?
An eye jammy is cool, when you're 15, it's how children settle disputes, grown men are supposed to be bigger than that.
2. Writing ignorance off as being a street dude is no longer acceptable. Real street dudes don't want beef, the cost of it is too high. It brings the cops, which crack down on whatever "street" activities you were involved in.
3. Joe Budden, while he wasn't wrong for speaking his mind on the Meth situation months ago, you are partially to blame for your tough talk in these video blogs. If you're a rapper, RAP! Slaughterhouse has an album coming out, I'd love to hear about that and not your opinion on any and everything happening which than causes wannabe street dudes to come in 6 deep and set it on you.
Lesson of the day is that if rappers want to be respected as talented artisans and business men then they have to act like it. Fighting amongst each other on the internet of all places is surely not the move. WAKE UP!."-Daniel Shine
